Where is Tesla headquartered?

Tesla officially moved its global headquarters from Palo Alto, California to Austin, Texas in December 2021. The current HQ address is 1 Tesla Road, Austin, TX 78725 — co-located with Gigafactory Texas on the Colorado River just east of downtown Austin. The campus spans approximately 2,500 acres and serves as both the executive nerve center and a high-volume vehicle manufacturing facility, producing the Model Y, Cybertruck, and the Cybercab (production started April 2026). Gigafactory Texas also houses Tesla's Cortex AI training cluster — 67,000 H100-equivalent NVIDIA GPUs as of mid-2025 — for FSD neural network training.

Despite the HQ move, Tesla retains a significant engineering presence in Palo Alto, California (1501 Page Mill Road), which houses much of the Autopilot/FSD software team and vehicle engineering groups. Many senior engineers remain Bay Area-based. The net result is a split executive/engineering footprint: operational and manufacturing decisions are made in Austin; software, AI, and vehicle engineering decisions are concentrated in Palo Alto.

Tesla's Shanghai factory makes it a significant procurement presence in China for component vendors, industrial equipment, and energy storage partners — the Shanghai site now has both automotive and Megapack manufacturing. European supply chain partners should engage through the Berlin Gigafactory.
